For over 10 years I have worked internationally with some of the best production companies (RadicalMedia, Iconoclast, Partizan, VICE, more) and commercial directors to pitch, win and produce award-winning commercials and branded content films for a variety of high-profile clients (BMW, Apple, Google, Levi's, Absolut, Ballantine's, Fiat, more). In addition, I have also written, produced and directed branded content films of my own that have had a huge variety of viewers and outreach. The interview is an integral part of excellent branded content. As the producer or director, you will need to generate great sound bites from your protagonists that are not only engaging but also contribute to the story that you are telling. There are many strategies to achieve this: research, pre-interviews, keeping the protagonist comfortable, asking the right questions, interviewing techniques and footage strategies. The process doesn't end there though. Once you've shot the interview you need to edit it, and this is where the magic happens. I have great advice and methods for pre-production, strategies to create the best interview conditions for your vision and how to put it together in the edit.
I have interviewed and worked with some of the most seminal musicians, DJs and producers on the planet including: TrapMoneyBenny (producer for Drake), Q-Tip (A Tribe Called Quest), Nile Rogers (Chic), Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo, composer for Wes Anderson films), Rakim (Erik B & Rakim), Erykah Badu, James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem), Philip Glass, Brian Eno, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Bernie Worrell (Funkadelic), Carl Craig, Giorgio Moroder, Debbie Harry (Blondie), Egyptian Lover, DJ Assault, Roedelius, Julia Holter, Richie Hawtin, Francesco Tristano, Stephen O’Malley (SunnO)))) and more.
