I have worked with Doug in a volunteer capacity within the community. We worked on a 6 week long course together. Doug as a person is energetic, enthusiastic, fun and positive. He is knowledgeable about Drupal and the inner workings of the community. He has acted as a friendly ambassador, and the greeter for many new developers who join the community. 

To work with him is truly awesome. Most crucially, he's dependable and reliable. These are some of the most important things about a colleague that cannot be over-stated, especially as concerns volunteer efforts.

Both in his dealings with me, and from what I have observed of Doug in the community, he is a stellar man and colleague.
