3-Com Router Technology Acquisition: Chartered with development of integrated high availability secure voice and data IP network. Creating key differentiated voice and data routing features for Motorola Solution’s core enterprise IP network. Team consists of 40 software engineers and 10 hardware engineers with $14M annual budget.

• Enabled significant system-level sales by program managing 4 – 6 large complex system releases per year containing security, voice, and data features for North America and European markets.
o Program managed business critical, cross-functional, multi-site features while also managing PMs responsible for concurrent programs.
o Selected and integrated 3rd party security products (e.g. Fortinet, Juniper, NICE Systems).
o Integrated new HW and SW through board bring-up, functional test, and factory introduction.
o Improved program execution performance by establishing and leading program management office (PMO) team of 6 PMs located in Sunnyvale, CA and Schaumburg, IL.
• Increased product design robustness and delivered quality by establishing system engineering team and process and staffing with 5 highly skilled technologists.
o Established product level requirements and design deliverables to translate system requirements to product level requirements and design. Defined clear product integration plans with a Master Test Strategy.
o Completed up front design for critical network routing features such as IPv6, IPSEC, and GGSN.
• Improved network security by obtaining Federal Information Processing (FIPS) 140-2 and Common Criteria Certification for Motorola Network Routers, accomplishing 1st time certification for Motorola’s core network that protected $300M – $500M of annual federal market business.
o Established project and program managed effort across all impacted functional teams (3rd party security certification authority, software, hardware, product test, business, manufacturing, sales, field engineers, and customer support engineers).
• Achieved significant engineering efficiency improvements by researching opportunities, analyzing large data sets using advanced statistical methods, and collaborating with stakeholders for adoption of proposed changes.
o Increased percent of total defects found prior to quality assurance turnover from 70% to 80%.
