Building and Running Games Isn't Easy, but You're Not Alone.
Created 11 years ago in Product & Design / Product Management

Developing and running games - Free to Play in particular - is not an easy thing to do.
Nor is running a game studio.
I know, I'm currently on my 3rd studio and I advised quite a few others.
My first studio ran for 2 years and went Meh. The second was sold in a $48M deal. I'm currently on my 3rd studio which we founded in early 2014, so I breath this fast-changing world on a daily basis.
That 2nd studio was a roller-coaster which taught me a lot: I managed Mytopia, a mobile/social game developer, and was also the only game designer until we were acquired by 888 in 2010. Following the successful M&A I took the roles of COO and Chief Creative and continued to run all day to day operations of our 3 internal studios, as well as kept being hands on with game design. It wasn't a smooth ride. We worked very hard, and made a lot of mistakes. Luckily, we also made some good decisions.
I worked on game genres ranging from Racing, Puzzles and Sims-like to Social Casino. I worked on our own original IP as well as with brand owners such as DreamWorks, MGA (Bratz), Showtime and Lionsgate (on Weeds and Dexter related games).
I can mostly help with:
- Managing a Game Studio
- Product Management
- Game Design (especially the balancing and monetization aspects)
- Free to Play games (aka Freemium)
- How to work with Analytics (and which metrics to really look at)
- Launch strategies
- Hiring and Team Management
- Company structure

July 2015: I have published the deck we used for the seed round of New Legends in 2014. It's a nice example for a seed deck of a mobile, eSports oriented game studio. You can view/download it here: http://turm.us/1GWuS7t

You can also download (in several countries) our new Rovio game - Pet Monsters (non-Angry Birds title) or check YouTube for some gameplay videos. I acted as Producer and Designer of the game.

Source: Clarity Peter Oliver Jun 3, 2014I've had the pleasure to work with Ohad on several projects involving mobile games development, on-handset portals as well as some journalistic work. Ohad holds a rare combination of in-depth technical understanding and operational skills while nurishing a strong strategic thinking and over-all business acumen.
Further, we´ve worked together onn and spent time at several industry conferences and events. During these moments, I´ve equally discovered that Ohad is as trustworthy and appreciable in private as he is in work. I warmy recommend working with Ohad.
Ohad is one of those people with a spark for getting things done. Ohad is one of the most creative people I’ve ever met and isn’t shy about displaying his skills, both social and technological. I’d love to work with him again on projects in the future and have always enjoyed the experience of collaborating with him before.
