Not everyone can afford workshops or to obtain a degree so I'm dedicated to working with people as passionate about writing as I am--to using my experience and training to help them develop skills, learn tools, and tell their stories well. I have an M.A. in Creative Writing from Hollins University and an M.F.A. in Poetry from the University of Maryland. My publications include Poetry, Ploughshares, Five Points, The Cortland Review, and Blackbird. I am a Bread Loaf alum, a Virginia Center for Creative Arts Fellow, Ruth Lilly Fellow, and Pushcart Prize nominee. My most recent work was runner up for the Poets & Writers' Maureen Egen Writer's Exchange Award. With 20 years of experience in manuscript editing (fiction--all genres, poetry, nonfiction, creative nonfiction, memoir), I work with writers of all skill levels, talent, and abilities to help them uplevel their skills and reach their goals. As a blogger for The Writer's Edge and JMWW, and a moderator for Author Salon, I am in touch with the trends and market of the publishing world and what agents are editors are looking for.
