Sound Design is so much a part of our lives. Its everywhere, almost every connected device has a voice. Its important that you approach how your product sounds in a thoughtful way. Talko is a novel communications app that's focused on voice. Early in the development process it became apparent that the app's sound design would be critical in helping the user to understand what state they were in: Mic state; call state; playback state; online state; etc. That's when, upon a personal recommendation from a great designer, we hired Charlie.
Charlie did truly a fantastic job at internalizing the requirements. He used the app to viscerally understand it; he interviewed the devs; he read the specs; he worked closely and really effectively with the lead interface designer. When his sounds worked first time, the team was amazed. When some needed refinement, he took an active interest in understanding why, and he iterated quickly.
He was also great to work with and was very budget-conscious.
Net-net, we're elated with the results, and we couldn't have been happier with the process. If we have further sound design need as we move forward, Charlie will be the first one we'll call. Highly recommended.
