MenuBecoming a Ruby Developer
Created 8 years ago in Technology / Ruby
I've followed a somewhat unorthodox path to becoming a web developer. I've self educated, been through an intensive bootcamp and spent 3+ years working a developer. There are many ways to become a quality web developer these days and thousands of different areas you could focus on within that. I'd love to help you make your journey more efficient as well as just give you an inside look at what worked and didn't work for me.

In July 2014 I left my government desk job to move into web development. I tried several online-coding classes and learning tools spanning a wide variety of programming languages until I decided to dive into the web development side of things full time. I did continue to learn by using platforms such as Udemy and Codeacademy; however, I reached a point where I wanted to move beyond the hand holding of many online-education sites. In the end I decided the best way for me to push myself into this new world the fastest was to immerse myself through an intensive bootcamp program. I graduated from CodeCore bootcamp in Vancouver in October 2015. Now several months later I've been working as a web developer full time. I can speak directly to what worked for me, what I would have done differently and where you should focus your time and attention.
