Ben Chan is currently an Executive General Manager at Envato, the world’s leading online marketplace and ecosystem for digital content and creatives, where millions of people come everyday to purchase files, hire freelancers, and learn the skills needed to build websites, videos, apps, graphics and more. Envato is in the top 100 most visited websites in the world. Mr Chan has been at Envato since 2013, and although he and the company are based in Melbourne, Australia, the vast majority of Envato’s users are in the North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia. At Envato, Mr Chan is head of a 100 person group with the responsibility of growing Envato’s revenue and customer base. The functions that he leads are i) Marketing (digital/online acquisition and retention, including SEO, SEM/PPC, Email, Social, Affiliates and PR), ii) Product Development & Engineering (software development to increase traffic to the site, to increase conversion, to increase international reach via payments and language, and to ensure site reliability), iii) UX (User Experience) & Design, and iv) Customer Support. Mr Chan has grown the business by more than 100%, and manages a US$20m+ budget. Prior, from 2010 until 2013, Mr Chan was a Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, servicing online and offline clients in the telecommunications, retail, and mining and resources sectors, in North America, Asia, Europe and Australia. Prior, from 2007 until 2010, Mr Chan was a Foreign Exchange Trader for Goldman Sachs in New York (Wall Street). Mr Chan has an MBA from Stanford University, and Bachelor Degrees in Engineering and Economics from Melbourne University.
