I have a decade of experience advising startups and SMBs at the intersection of data, design, and product; in full-time strategic roles, I’ve built data science capabilities from scratch, managed big data teams and projects, and owned analytics product roadmaps. I have developed curriculum and instructed classes related to big data engineering and executive education at Galvanize, a learning community for technology, and my writing covers both technical and managerial topics. My writing has been recently featured in the IBM Big Data & Analytics Hub and by the CMO Club. My background is in machine learning and business analytics, and I have remained current in the field though ongoing hands-on work; early in my career I held a research faculty appointment (Bioinformatics) at Harvard.

I help clients in three critical areas:
--- Taking concepts for products / data-products from ideation through early prototype
--- Navigating the organizational changes required to become a (more) ‘data-driven organization’
--- Realigning an underperforming data science product, feature, team, or capability (often this requires shining an uncomfortable light on collective leadership and company culture; if you are not open to the *possibility* that you are actively or passively contributing to the underperformance, it might be best if we do not work together)
