I have an academic background in film theory with a specific emphasis upon film business. I'm currently engaged in research for my PhD which focuses on crowdsourcing and its impact on film production and distribution. I generally combine this expertise with my professional background in technology when working with filmmakers and film businesses.
I have been working in the field of web development since 1998 and have experience building web applications, scaling content driven web sites, and architecting web software systems. I also have a lot of experience in finding technical solutions to business problems and now focus on helping film-centric companies.
In 2009 I designed and built indie theatrical distribution platform OpenIndie with filmmaker Arin Crumley. The site was designed to allow filmmakers to collect geographic demand for film screenings and then plan tours, organise screenings and advertise them to those who requested their film on the site. Through this I gained significant experience in building software to augment film distribution practices.
